Primo - Your Broadband Specialists - Big Brothers, Big Sisters

Gazebo

Primo is 100% Taranaki owned and operated and is proud to support a growing number of local community groups and organisations.

We provide sponsored broadband connections for events (including free wi-fi hotspots), groups and organisations within Taranaki.

We consider sponsorship requests all year round.  Your request maybe considered for a full or partial sponsorship.  Our sponsorship generally covers Primo services only and not monetary support.

In reviewing applications, several criteria are considered; the organisation itself, such as its kaupapa and membership numbers including if any are Primo customers. We'd also like to know how Primo's support will make a difference, be acknowledged and shared.  A written agreement will set out the sponsorship arrangements and be reviewed regularly.

Primo can also share your event or organisations details on its website and we happily share posts on our Facebook or Instagram accounts promoting the organisation and its events.

If you’re interested in applying for sponsorship for your upcoming event or organisation, contact us via the form below or email us at supportinglocals@primo.nz

Our Primo signage, and our Gazebo are also available to groups and organisations for use, a great way to shelter from the sun or rain!  It is 3m x 3m and comes with sides.  Contact us for bookings.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters

Children need trustworthy adults in their lives who will listen, take an interest in them and be there in times of need. For most children this need is met through family and family friends. For some children, however, this need is not met and they struggle to grow and achieve their potential.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) mentoring programme has been developed for just these children. BBBS began over 100 years ago and has grown into the most widely established and reputable mentoring organisation in the world.

Why is mentoring so important? Because it makes such a significant difference!

International research on BBBS mentoring has shown that:

  • Mentored youth were 46% less likely to initiate drug.
  • Mentored youth were one third less likely to hit someone.
  • Mentored youth truanted half as many days of school as others.
  • Mentored youth had better quality relationships with their parents.
  • Mentored youth had improved relationships with their peers.

While BBBS mentoring cannot solve every youth issue nor is the appropriate option in many cases, it has a very significant role to play in ensuring that New Zealand's youth have the opportunity to grow into the best adult they can be.

The BBBS model of volunteer mentors being coached and monitored regularly by professional case managers has proven to be very cost effective and a safe model for youth.

PrimoWireless has proudly provided ultrafast broadband to Big Brothers Big Sisters in Taranaki since 2012!  If you are interested to know more check out their website or find them on facebook.
