Local entrepreneur donates wifi to hospital - Radio Interview

Taranaki Base Hospital now has free wifi thanks to PrimoWireless founder Matthew Harrison.

He was sick in hospital and found he had chewed through a lot of data and thought about how to help other patients stay connected. Harrison told Larry Williams a lot of DHBs have got wifi which they pay for themselves.

Patient gifts free wi-fi to hospitals after chewing through $3000 of data while sick

Getting online while in one regional hospital will now be free thanks to the founder of an internet service provider who knows what it's like to be a patient.

PrimoWireless managing director Matthew Harrison has connected Taranaki Base and Hāwera Hospitals to wifi inspired by his own personal experience of chewing through data during recovery from illness.

Wi-finding a way to better internet

Teens in Taranaki have been investigating how a wifi network is created and how to set up one that is as good as – and sometimes better than – those installed by professionals.

Year 12 and 13 students at New Plymouth Girls’ High School and New Plymouth Boys’ High School have been learning the science and technology behind what makes a good wifi network, and how to avoid ‘blind spots’ where signal is poor or non-existent.

Penguin Cam live streaming from little blue penguin burrow

A  'Penguin Cam' along the Taranaki coastline is now sharing the hidden life of the world's smallest penguin with the world.

An infrared camera has been set up in a little blue penguin burrow at Ngāmotu Beach in New Plymouth and turned, with the action being live streamed online via the Taranaki Mounga project website.

PrimoWireless wins tender to connect rural Taranaki and grant for Whangamomona

Internet service provider PrimoWireless has been named the Wireless Internet Service Provider for the region after winning a bid for the Government's second phase of the Rural Broadband Initiative (RBI) - a $150 million package to pay for connecting rural areas to the internet.

Hawera – the ‘breath of fire’, certainly has a history of being a hotspot!

Well now it can add digital hotspot to that reputation. Hotspot Hawera, free Wi-Fi throughout the town CBD was officially launched on Saturday 22 July.

Bizlink Hawera Chairman, Gary Brown, says the free Wi-Fi initiative is a joint effort between Bizlink Hawera (the Hawera Business Association),the Hawera Community Board and PrimoWireless.
